Silke Eschert’s research is concerned with the question of how individuals behave in conflicts about deep disagreements. Research from the field of social psychology has repeatedly shown that people resist information that is inconsistent with their own beliefs and discount persuasive arguments from opposing parties. Within the scope of the project Deep Disagreements, Silke Eschert will also look into the possible interventions that facilitate a more open-minded discourse and serve to increase acceptance of the opposing party’s position.
